Monday

OK... so Sunday morning, Cutter 916 came over with her fine Quarterhorse  gelding with Pepto Boonsmal breeding and away we did ride. What a good boy he is, only 4 and mostly used to cutting cows rather than looking out for wildlife. We  rode through  the bottomland, and then headed to the wildlife reserve and went towards the Cosumnes River. We came back along the levee an had a grand ride.We saw deer and traipsed as far as we could.  We walked and jogged so we all got a good workout.
That afternoon Farmer Boy played disc golf with his  herd-o-men that he pals around with and was once again the champeen! Woohooo an good weekend for all.

Monday

Ok, so Thankgsgiving was a good day and it was really nice to be home for four days. Farmer Boy has recovered from the croup and all is well with the world.
Thanks giving morning Jenni and her daughter Tracy came over and we went for an early morning ride.
Here we are heading home. The horses were good as gold and the weather was col and crisp.

On Eagles Wings as ayearling....my beautiful girl.On Eagles Wings 4 years old My beautiful girl

I remember what fun we had when we went to Crater Lake and how stunned I was by the beauty of it all.

Monday Morning 11-23-09

Well...this weekend was busy. I got home after work on Friday and Farmer Boy and I headed to Kaiser Permanente in Elk Grove for lung x-rays and super antibiotics. It seems Farmer Boy has a case of walking pneumonia...so lots of rest for him this weekend.
We then went to Chipotle as Farmer Boy had a craving for Mexican food...and  I don't even have to do a thing except tell people what I want and I get it! One of my favorite things.
Saturday morning I cleaned the house, did laundry and kept an eye on Farmer Boy. Later Frisco, Cheyenne and I took a walk to the River. Very nice cool , crisp day for a walk.
Sunday I went to the store and picked up a few groceries for my soup I wanted to make. I roasted a chicken Saturday for dinner ( roast chicken, baked butternut squash and lima beans) and I used the meat  for soup on Sunday.
I made a Mexican type soup. I first fire roasted two Poblano's and one Jalapeno pepper on the stove. After they were done and in the rolled closed brown paper bag, I chopped half of a red onion and a whole cluster of garlic and sauteed that in some olive oil. Then I sliced and chopped pretty finely a carrot and a good sized parsnip and put that in to cook. Can't forget the celery, two stalks celery finely chopped into the pot. Then I put the chicken in the pot. On top of the chicken I put one small can tomatoes with chiles and one half container Michaela's fresh ( hot not mild) salsa. By then the peppers were ready to have the char removed and  seeded and chopped. I left a few seeds from the Jalapeno so it would be good and spicy. I had some left over lima beans and they went in and I added one can Mexi-Corn to the pot for good measure. After that I added one big box of Chicken Stock and left it to cook. After an hour or so I removed the chicken, let it cool and stripped the meat from the bones.I put the meat back and let it cook until we couldn't stand it anymore!
Big Bowls of soup and a good piece of toast...made for a wonderful meal that should help heal Farmer Boy and warm the soul of anyone who eats it.
After that I went and got Cheyenne and we went for a ride around the Farm. He is such a good boy, we jogged and walked and loped. He is feeling good. I believe he likes this cool weather. He is full of vim and vigor and fun. woo hoo, so that was my weekend down on the farm.

Thursday

Good Morning, Good Day Sunshine!
It is  simply a beautifal late Fall day. The sky is blue, the air is crisp and the leaves are brilliant on the trees. We will have rain and wind tomorrow,  we sure need the rain; the sprouted oats and rye are waiting for a drink.
The ground was thick with frost this morning.

Here are some pictures of  trees I took in town this morning...

Saturday Morning Ride!

Words who needs words!

my camera fixed!

Last week...Wednesady afternoon I think ; Farmer Boy and I went to town. We drove the Dodge truck to Pardee's Camera shop to have my camera checked. I know why Farmer Boy loves Pardee's...it is the personal shopping experience with staff who are friendly and knowledgeable. Also the store is like a camera museum. So, the friendly staff person looks at my camera after I explain the problem...he sets it back to the factory setting a takes a picture of Farmer Boy and me in all our cold/phlegm storm glory! My camera is fixed !
After that Farmer Boy went to Esoteric Records and I went to Elliott's Health Food Store and looked around. Then we stopped at the Red Wing Shoe Store and Farmer Boy bought himself a new pair of water proof sport/work shoes. Then Farmer Boy had a hankering for some Mexican food. We pulled into Chipotle's and had a Carnitas Fajita bowl..of course then we had to run into See's candy for a free sample! woohooo! I think our taste buds are coming back to life:)
OK...I know I wrote about this last time...I do repeat myself! I will try to stay on top of these posts! :):)

Thursday

Jenni and Maple came over in the morning and away we went for a ride. We had good weather for riding yesterday, not too warm and not too cool. Just warm enough so that all involved worked up a good sweat from our workout. We went to the River, turned right and rode to the island before heading home. Total saddle time for me and Cheyenne , 2 hours. I was still hacking and coughing and realized everytime I cough I squeeze...so Cheyenne hadl a lot to deal with! I realized what I was doing and let Cheyenne speed up some and then ask him to slow back down...silly two legger.
Later that day , Farmer Boy and I covered two stacks of hay with tarps...ooh not my favorite activity climbing around on hay stacks. But, the job got done before the rain last night.
Then we went to town....my camera is not broken yippee! It was on some type of function that I must have hit a button or something and it ended up on closeup shots. So everytime I tried to take regular or far distance shot it was out of focus! Oh thank you great Techno Guy at Pardees Camera store! I felt silly but was very grateful it got fixed.
We stopped at Chipotle for Burrito Bowls as Farmer Boy was craving Mexican food. MMMM we love Chipotle Burrito Bowls ( we both had carnitas)...then over to See's candy for a free sample and Farmer Boy bought himself some Pecan Pie Truffles. Delicous and decadent.

OH MY Word!

Oh My word...what a storm swept through the land! A Phlegm Storm at that. Farmer Boy and I were down for the count. When we finally had to get up to go to town (we were out of canned chicken soup after we ate all the home made chicken soup I had made when only Farmer Boy was sick)...we dragged our hineys around so low I think we left snail trails...lovely image wouldn't you say?
Well, Farmer Boy is feeling much better and I am feeling better...waiting for the much to kick in.
Sunday, Farmer Boy had his Herd of Men over for Disc Golf. Frisco and I followed the Herd for while and that made Frisco very happy. He loves hanging with the Boys. And...lest I not mention it and be damned to the fiery bastions of hell for all eternity......Farmer Boy won the Disc Golf game and is the Champion or is that Champeen(haha) for the week. Ah, Glory, hot and fiery while it lasts and cold comfort when it passes.
On Eagles Wings is home...did I already say that? She is very happy, she is living with Vicarious Bill and Cheyenne and the games are on I am telling you... Cheyenne does like his girls I have come to find out ! I will get new pictures up soon.( no, not of that! Just pretty horse pictures! my oh my!) My camera pooped out...I will be using Farmer Boys for a while.
Tomorrow is Veterans day and I would like say Thank You to everyone who has given time and talent to serve our Country.
Well, tomorrow I will be home and if the weather is good we will ride :)
